Whilst my background is firmly in technology, especially web development and IT systems management, another passion of mine is music and broadcast.
In March 2010 I launched Leeds Indie Radio, an online radio station dedicated to promoting the unsigned and indie label musical talent within Leeds and West Yorkshire. This was a perfect way to combine my IT and web skills with my love of music and the local music and cultural scenes.
The station has been very well received both in Leeds and further afield and we now broadcast to over 20,000 listeners per month. This has helped to boost the image of the city and to really highlight the vast amount of musical and creative talent in Leeds and West Yorkshire.
I now produce and present shows, interview bands (both signed and unsigned), review gigs and releases, promote my own live music night and work hard to further develop the Leeds Indie Radio website to make it the central point for finding out what’s going on in the Leeds music scene.
Given the success of Leeds Indie Radio I now plan to transfer the model to other cities, initially partnering with Mojo bar to launch Radio Mojo in Liverpool.
